Southern Maryland Peace

A gathering of people who share the common idea that we need to bring peace-making into all aspects of our lives.

This means Peace within ourselves, our families and friendships, our community, environment and our world.

Everything we do can promote peace.

In 2003, amidst a world of terriorism and war , a small group of people from different spiritual and political persuasions came together to work towards peace. Our hope is that this website will be a conduit for other such groups in Southern Maryland, who are also working to build peace in our community.

Community Happenings
To Build Peace:

These are events and activities that are sponsored by other people and organizations to help promote peace in our community.

If you would like to post your "happening" on this website, please email us. somd.peace@gmail.com

.As you shop for special gifts for your friends and family this holiday season, make a difference in the world with your dollars! When you buy handmade goods from countries where people live on a dollar a day, you help put food on their table and send their children to school. By supporting their entrepreneurship, you help empower their human dignity. Let us share our enthusiasm for the many groups around the world that support grass-roots efforts to maintain sustainable lifestyles, especially in countries recovering from conflict. Find out about Fair Trade products, Heifer Project, 10,000 Villages, SERV and Sharing Right Resources. We rely on direct sales and a network of social entrepreneurs to put money in the hands of mothers whose love for their families inspires their handwork.
